Fishing / Angling
Cloon Cottage is set on the bank of Cloon River, Lough Mask is about a mile downstream. There are two lake boats with the property - a 17ft boat and a 19ft boat. Each will take 3 anglers. You might prefer to go two to a boat, with the extra anglers taking turns to explore some of the many other fine fisheries in the area. The engines are Mariner four stroke (one 4hp and one 5hp). There is also a garage/tackle shed/drying room. If you are fishing for pike or trolling for ferox trout, here you will also find a freezer where you can store frozen bait.
The main species on Lough Mask are wild brown trout and pike. It is a free fishery; you do not need to buy a licence or permit, but you are encouraged to make a voluntary subscription/donation to the Partry Angling Club, to support its conservation and development work. Details are available at the cottage.
If you plan to try some of the salmon fisheries in the region, you will need to buy a salmon licence. These can be bought in most tackle shops.
